Smooth Curry at Plaza Athenee Bangkok
Located in Bangkok’s Pathumwan district, Smooth Curry is a part of Plaza Athenee Bangkok. This Thai restaurant is known for serving traditional Thai dishes from each of the nation’s four regions, along with the latest creations that emphasize lighter ingredients and modern techniques. List of popular dishes include Khao Ob Subparod and Yam Som O. The former one is a spicy salad with minced chicken and tiger prawns, whereas the latter is a rice dish with tiger prawns, cashew nuts and chicken served inside a pineapple. The restaurant also specialises in serving complimentary Thai petites with tea and coffee.
Smooth Curry’s decor echoes an amalgamation of new and old, with a spectacular floor of brown and green tiles flowing throughout. The sleek dark wood tables here are surrounded by modern armchairs, with one wall being covered in upholstered benches.
Original wooden oars hang on the restaurant walls as artwork. These oars were used in rowing the royal barges, thereby giving a vivid reminder of the regal history of Thailand. Intricate wooden sculptures engraved in Thai motifs can be seen at the standing at the entrance.
Locally crafted stoneware is used in to serve the dishes, adding further authenticity and warmth to the ambiance. And every evening, traditional musical gets played in the background.
The restaurant features a separate dining room that can hosts almost 12 guests for small business functions and private celebrations. It remains throughout the week, from 6 in the morning to 11 at night.
