Sri Mariamman Temple is also called Wat Khaek. It was constructed during late 19th century by a Tamil immigrant and is situated in Silom. It is a Dravidian Hindu Temple and is a major non-Buddhist place of worship. Goddess Mariamman is the chief deity, to which the temple is dedicated and named after. However, statues of several other gods and goddesses in Hindu religion can also be found inside the temple. Navratri is the major religious festival that is observed in this temple. It occurs periodically according to the Tamil calendar. Apart from immigrant Tamil community, local Thais and foreign tourists visit this place abound and observe the rites.
