Wat Saket is a Buddhist temple in the district of Pom Phai. It is built based on Ayutthaya style and was originally called Wat Sakae. The present name of the temple was given by King Rama I, who renovated it during his reign. The steep artificial hill in the compound of Wat Saket is called Phu Khao Thong. It was actually the collapsed chedi that King Rama III constructed in the compound. The collapsed bricks and mud gathered further dust and resembled a natural mount, especially due to the weeds that had grown on it. The present Wat Saket is the result of renovation and restoration carried out in 20th century.
