Wat Intharawihan Temple monastery is located in Nakhon District in Bangkok. It was constructed during the early days of Ayutthaya period. It was originally named Wat Rai Phrik. A 32-metre tall and 10-metre wide statue of standing Buddha is one of the chief atttractions of Wat Intharawihan Temple. It is locally referred to as Phra Si Ariyamettrai or Luan Pho To. Its construction took more than 60 years for completion. It is decorated with 24-carat gold and glass mosaic. There is memorabilia of Lord Buddha contained in the topknot of Buddha image. The relic was especially brought from Sri Lanka for the monastery.
